Bakerwell Education Advisory Sdn Bhd (Reg. No. 202101034872 (1432876-D)) ("Bakerwell", "we", "us") operates the website bakerwell.help. This policy explains how we handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia) ("PDPA"). By using this website or engaging our advisory services, you consent to the practices described below.

1. Data we collect

We collect personal data you provide directly when you submit an enquiry form, contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email, or attend a consultation. Depending on the service, this may include:

• Identity and contact details — name, email address, phone number, and where relevant, NRIC or passport details required for institutional applications;
• Academic information — examination results, transcripts, certificates and study history;
• Financial context — indicative budget ranges and, where visa support is engaged, evidence of funds you supply;
• Communication records — correspondence and consultation notes that help us advise you consistently.

We also collect limited technical data (browser type, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP) through cookies, as described in our Cookie Policy.

2. How we use your data

• To respond to enquiries and provide course-matching, scholarship and application services;
• To prepare and submit applications to institutions you have approved, in your name;
• To communicate about deadlines, offers, visa steps and appointments;
• To meet legal and regulatory obligations applicable to education advisories in Malaysia;
• To improve our services and website, using aggregated, de-identified information.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Disclosure to institutions and authorities

Your academic and identity data is disclosed to universities, colleges and scholarship bodies only for applications you have expressly asked us to make. Where a destination requires it, data may be transferred to institutions or visa authorities outside Malaysia; such transfers are made only to the extent needed for your application and are protected by the receiving institution's own regulatory obligations.

4. Retention

Enquiry data from prospective students who do not proceed is deleted within 24 months of last contact. Records of placed students are kept for 7 years to support credit transfers, verification requests and alumni services, after which they are securely destroyed.

5. Security

Personal data is stored on access-controlled systems available only to advisory staff who need it. Paper documents are kept in locked storage at our Petaling Jaya office and shredded when no longer required.

6. Your rights under the PDPA

You may request access to, or correction of, your personal data, withdraw consent to processing, or limit processing for direct marketing at any time. Write to [email protected] or to our registered office. We respond to valid requests within 21 days. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to continue an application in progress; we will explain any consequences before acting.

7. Minors

Many of our clients are under 18. For students below 18 years of age, we require the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian before collecting personal data or submitting any application.

8. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. The revision date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on this page for 30 days.
